JOE Hughes’ English title shot has been confirmed by the British Boxing Board of Control this evening.
The Malmesbury light-welterweight will fight for the vacant strap on July 18, however, the 24-year-old will no longer be facing Ryan Taylor at the Bath Pavilion.
The Londoner was stopped in the second round by Mark McKray, triggering an automatic 28-day suspension.
With Taylor now out of the picture, County Durham’s Anthony Hardy has been drafted in to face Hughes.
The 23-year-old northerner is undefeated over seven contest, all of which have gone the distance – the longest being six rounds.
