THE Wiltshire Schools Cross Country Championships, scheduled for Grittleton House School, near Chippenham on Saturday morning, have been postponed.
Organisers took the decision to push back the event by seven days due to the forecast of high winds in Wiltshire this weekend.
Wiltshire Schools' Athletic Association chair Tim Whiting said: "The grounds of Grittleton House school are populated with mature trees and WSAA can’t run the risk of anyone being hit by a falling branch.
"The strong winds that are forecast on Friday evening and Saturday morning could easily cause significant damage to some of the magnificent trees in the grounds of Grittleton House School.
"WSAA are sorry or any inconvenience this postponement may cause.''
The event will now take place next Saturday (January 17), with the first races off at 10.15am.
