DEVIZES Budo Club has broken their record medal haul from all competitions this year.

Their tally of 215 medals beat a previous best of 171 from more than a decade ago.

The medals won this year ranged from the London Open, British Schools, Kent International, Scottish Open, British National open plus another 30 competitions around the country.

The squad of judoka are coached by full-time professional coaches Jason Parsons and Mark Burbidge and consists of boys and girls aged eight upwards that have been hand picked from players who normally train on Monday, Wednesday or Friday nights.

They are then given extra training in both fighting techniques and fitness on Thursdays, with most squad members training three nights a week to hone their skills.

Devizes judoka Jemima Duxberry and Tom Reed who are both full-time professionals and make periodic returns to the club where they learned their trade also as members of the squad.

Devizes club member Evan Molloy has also just been selected to fight for England in the forthcoming IBSA Judo World Cup and Junior Tournament in Hungary in February.
