DEVIZES travelled to Somerset for their Netball South West Regional League Three clash against Tor Knights without influential captain Becki Gaiger who was away.

The visitors did have defender Ellie Papps returning from injury and goal attack Anna Molineaux available to coach Nikki Lloyd.

Devizes got off to a quick start, immediately converting off the home side centre pass.

The sides went back and forth for most of the opening quarter but Devizes worked hard on full court defence and turned over possession frequently.

With the whole attacking unit performing well, Devizes started the second quarter 12-8 in front.

Both sides stepped up the intensity, creating more opportunities for their shooters.

However the Devizes defence were making the host’s attack work hard for each goal, with the visitors finding themselves 28-19 to the good at half time.

The second half started with Papps and Hannah Sedgwick coming on.

Kit Dillon remained at centre and proved key in linking attack and defence, feeding the shooters well.

Knights rallied at the start of the quarter but were soon worn down by a resilient Devizes side and were restricted well by full court defence.

The visitors were clinical in converting their turnovers and won the third quarter 16-9.

Despite more changes for the final period, Devizes saw out the game strongly, maintaining the pressure all the way to the final whistle to take the game 69-36.

Molineaux was named player of the match.
