RICHARD Hannon's four-time Group One-winning filly Sky Lantern has been retired following another disappointing showing at Newmarket on Saturday.

Winner of the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh as a juvenile, the grey daughter of Red Clubs provided Richard Hannon senior with a Classic winner during his final season with a licence in last year's 1000 Guineas.

She went on to land the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket during a tremendous three-year-old campaign, but has looked a shadow of her former self this term.

Having failed to fire in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes, the Falmouth and when defending her Sun Chariot crown on Saturday, connections have decided to call time on her racing career.

Collingbourn Ducis trainer Richard Hannon junior said: "She gave us some fantastic moments, she was a four-times Group One winner and has to be the best filly we have had on the place, and while it was a struggle to get her back this year, she leaves us with some wonderful memories.

"She will now be with the best people at the Keswicks' stud."
