HULLAVINGTON racer Fraser Rogers has launched a desperate hunt for sponsorship to ensure his Supersport World Championship dream isn't snatched away.

The 18-year-old sealed a deal to race a full season for the Com Plus team in the World Superbike support series and surpassed expectations by picking up a point in the opening round at Phillip Island, Australia, in February.

But after losing one of his main sponsors, Rogers faces having to fork out around £5000 for each of the remaining 13 rounds, or risk losing his place with his Czech team.

Rogers was hoping to fly out to Spain on Wednesday for this weekend’s second round in Aragon – if he had raised the necessary funds.

“One of my main sponsors pulled out and left me high and dry. I’ve now got to pay £5000 for every round if I want to carry on,” he said.

“I’ve got to pay for all of the logistics, the race fuel, the tyre damage and things like that. It all adds up.

“My team are really happy with me and they want to keep me on but if I can’t afford to go to races and someone else that’s got the backing behind them can jump in, then I could lose my ride.

“I was really happy with how I did in Australia because I wasn’t expecting to get a point in my first race. Hopefully I don’t just get to do one round.

“I’ve changed manager to Michael Hill, who works with Dorna (the commercial rights holder of the Superbikes World Championship), and he’s trying to help me out.
