GRANT Slater, the former Cornwall amateur and England boys player who has signed on with Gary Lenaghan as a trainee PGA professional at Trevose, picked up his first Cornwall Alliance success at China Fleet.
He won the individual professional award with a magnificent four-under-par under par 68, worth 40 stableford points in a field of 86 on a windy, squally day.
He finished five shots clear of Russell Binney (St Austell) and Richard O'Hanlon (Lanhydrock) with Mark Rowe (Carlyon Bay) and Richard Sadler (Killiow) a further shot back.
Slater's stunning play enabled him to clean up all the prizes.
His points helped Martin Bullock from his original club Carlyon Bay) win the amateur prize as the pair mustered 45 points.
They were followed by Jimmy Foy and Dave O'Sullivan (China Fleet) on 42 with Trevor Johnston (Perranporth) playing with Binney and Mullion's Chris Ramsden and Craig Billing notching 41.
Slater also took the team professional's award from runners up Binney and Billing.
