Bradford Town B 1 Devizes Town B 3

Derry Hill 0 Devizes Town 12

Devizes had a busy last week of the season, making two mid week away trips to conclude there fixtures, knowing that they had to win both and score loads of goals in the process as 2nd/3rd/4th positions could be decided by goal difference.

Tuesday night saw them travel to Bradford and in some awful conditions both sides played some good football.

Devizes immediately went on the attack and laid siege to the Bradford goal and took the lead after 5 mins when Ciaran Webster was on hand at the far post to tap the ball in after some nice build up play.

Mid way through the half Webster doubled the lead this time with a great strike from outside the box.

The second half began with Devizes going forward but a mixture of fine goalkeeping and some good defending was keeping them at bay untill mid way through the half when Sean Giles scrambled the ball home for his first goal of the club.

With Devizes knowing they needed goals they continued to push forward and were always vulnerable to the quick counter attack and so it was in the last minute when there keeper found himself confronted by 3 forwards who made no mistake to score a worthy consolation goal for Bradford.

Wednesday night saw Devizes turn up at Derry Hill with slightly reduced numbers due to other commitments but finally all the hard work of shooting practise at training paid off as they ran riot.

Devizes passed the ball around lovely and never gave the opposition a chance scoring at regular intervals through out the game.

The goals were spread around the team with Ciaran Webster leading the way with 5, but the most deserved goal went to Callum Barnes who scored the last one to round off a superb personal performance.

But the biggest cheer of the day was for the Devizes keeper Toby Buller who broke his scoring duck with a first half penalty and showed it was no fluke as he scored his second of the game during the second half from open play.

Great credit must go to Derry Hill who never gave up trying through out the game.

The match's proved a fine end to Devizes under 9 season and now they can to prepare for next seasons under 10 league challenge.
