Melksham Town Under 13s completed a memorable season by clinching the Jack Goodenough League Cup to go with their Division 1 league title and end the season as double winners.

In a hard, fast and frenetic but fairly fought match with Chippenham Town, the 2-1 scoreline reflected the closeness of the two teams.

Melksham went 2 goals up in the first half, first through Aaron Ward-Baptiste latching onto a through ball and beating the goalkeeper to his right, and secondly through a great header by Jack Whiting.

At half time both times made some changes and Chippenham started the second half with more intent and did force a goal back through a well taken free kick by Harry Myles.

This ensured a frantic final few minutes and but for some good saves by the Melksham goalkeeper Chippenham could have forced extra time.

The match was played in a great spirit by two teams that know each other well and was a great match to watch as every player on the pitch gave it their all.

Man of the match for the final was Nick Newth.

Martin Brock the Melksham Town U13's manager and Director of Football for Melksham Town Youth, said: "This double is a testament to the hard work shown by all the players who have worked tirelessly all season to improve their football - I am pleased that trophies have come at the end of the season but I am even more pleased to see how they have all developed as footballers."
