Ramsbury U10 Tigers and Ramsbury Sharks finished third and fifth out of nine teams in tournament on tour in Woolacombe over the Easter weekend.

The whole Ramsbury squad were also awarded the Sportsmanship/Fairplay award, which was presented by ex-Arsenal and England Player Paul Merson.

To top off the club's brilliant weekend a North Devon official sent the below email to North Wiltshire Youth & Minor League, praising the club's fair play.

"I officiated at the Sports Tours UK Woolacombe Championship this last weekend, where I witnessed the most sporting youth football team I have EVER seen in my time in football (I ran a youth football team myself for over 10 years in North Devon and have been a referee for the last 11 years).

Ramsbury U10's conduct, from the players, management and parents, was exemplary. To see their players be the first up from a tackle, holding out a hand to help the opponent off the ground, by way of apology or forgiveness, was fantastic to see.

There was no arguing or condemnation of Ramsbury teammates when a goal was conceded, the management offered nothing but total encouragement and praise all round and the parents applauded skill where it deserved it...from both their own team and the opponents.

I had personally had a tough week in football last week, with a game abandoned at senior level due to vioent conduct and abuse with yellow and red cards aplenty, and another featuring a sending off too which brought my red card total for the season to 16. Ramsbury U10's attitude proved to me that there is still hope for the future in this otherwise tarnished 'beautiful game'. Well done lads! You really are the BEST out there!!!
