Cirencester United 0, Pewsey Vale 2

Football: Manager Dave Turner's last match in charge of Pewsey Vale ended with a win over bottom of the table Cirencester United, and with a very respectful seventh-placed finish in the Hellenic League Division One West table.

Turner now leaves the Vale to take charge at Wootton Bassett Town for the 2008/09 season.

Pewsey Vale took an early lead from a corner by Tom Ritchie that curled in at the far post.

The home side was unlucky not to get back level, a great knock in by Richard Miles found the head of Dean Dixon, but he headed over.

A penalty for the Vale taken by Scott Ward was saved by Michael Bowman, who spilled the ball, and Ward made a hash of the second chance he had from three yards.

Further corner for the Vale gave both Richie Carter and Chris Oram chance but they headed over.

Nick Woodward put in at the far post on 74 minutes to make it 2-0.

Cirencester were unlucky not to get a consulation goal when a powerful shot by Jason Edwards struck the post.

Pewsey Vale will now be looking for a new manager, any applicant interested should ring Jeff Matthews on 01380 720377.
