Moffat in the frame for Devizes job

Football: Devizes Town are set to unveil their new manager next week with former boss Shaun Moffat in the running.

The Nursteed Road club have been looking for a new boss since caretaker manager Steve Hale, who took over from Paul Thompson last month, announced his decision to leave for Thatcham Town at the end of the season.

The club's committee have held interviews with two potential management teams, including Moffat and right hand man Kevin Whitbread.

Chairman Andy Trusler confirmed a conclusion was close and said: "No decision has been made.

"We have seen two sets of people and we will sit down and decide over the weekend and should make an announcement Monday or Tuesday."

Moffat added: "There is nothing concrete. We have spoken to a few people but there is no decision."

Moffat was manager for a brief spell in 2003/04 and said the lack of funds at Devizes wouldn't put him off.

"The last time we were there we had no budget at all and the way the club has been in the last few years there is never going to be a great deal," he said.

"So anything we may get would be an improvement, although obviously lots of money makes it easier."
