CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION THREE: Top dogs set for Lavington showdown
3:00pm Friday 12th October 2012 in News
WITHOUT doubt the match that catches the eye in Division Three is the fixture between leaders Corsham Park Rangers and PSC Galaxy who lie in third place just one point behind Tim Spear’s side.
Galaxy have dropped just one point in their previous 23 league matches and that was last time out when they were held to a draw by Talbot FC.
Rangers with their 100 per cent record on the line should provide a good test for their hosts who if they aren’t at their best may just suffered their first defeat since they joined the league last term.
North Star B can count themselves very unlucky not to have taken at least a point from last week's outing with FC Buscots, but it will be a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire for Lee Lovelock’s side as next on the menu for the bottom of the table side is Fortune Inn.
Fortune go into the game on the back of two impressive cup victories. Fortune should take maximum points, but another gladiatorial effort from North Star may just seem them upset the odds, but in truth that shouldn’t really happen.
Pack Horse Rangers are set to face a Bremhill View Boys outfit, who are still looking for their first win of the season, but after taking a point from Pig & Whistle United A last weekend they may fancy their chances against a Pack Horse side who have still to hit the highs of last season.
What should be a low-scoring game maybe won by the odd goal with Pack Horse being tipped for victory.
Having dropped their first point of the season last weekend Pig & Whistle United A will be looking for an immediate return to winning ways when they entertain a struggling Christian Malford side at Awdry Avenue.
Malford took three points from United last term and they would love to get something from this game but this new-look United side are proving hard to beat and they should pick up another win on Sunday.
FC Buscots put their 100 per cent start to the season on the line when they travel to an ever improving Talbot side who are unbeaten in their three homes games to date and have ever chance of causing an upset when they welcome the joint leaders to Priestly Grove.
Buscots had a wake up call a week ago when they came from behind to beat North Star B, so they won’t be taking anything for granted and what promises to be an entertaining game could see the points shared, as the hosts are becoming something of draw specialists after drawing their last two games.
