DIVISION ONE PREVIEW: Boroughs & Castle seek first league win

FC Boroughs and Castle FC will lock horns this weekend and with both teams desperate to register their first league win their Division One clash at Sherston.

In recent weeks, both teams have been in cup action and have had back-to-back successes in both the WG Parr Trophy and Knockout Cup but they have yet to set the division alight.

The hosts may just have a slight edge but Castle should be good for a point if Tom Perkins can get the best out of his side.

Early leaders Bradford Renegades are in red-hot form and in Sam Jordan they have the league’s in-form striker.

Jordan has scored 18 goals in just four matches and he is likely to hit the goal trail again this weekend when his team visit Biddestone White Horse in what is a hastily rearranged fixture after Renegades' original opponents Prestige Bodyworks were unable to raise a team.

Renegades won the corresponding fixture last term and they will be favourites to do the same again this campaign, but Biddestone should make things hard for their hosts.

Bromham (Sunday) travel to North Star A looking to get their first points on the board and they will fancy their chances of picking up something from the game.

Both of last season’s fixtures between the sides ended in a 2-2 draw and the chances are that the honours will be shared for a third successive time until either team can conjure up something a little special.

Last term's second division winners and runners-up are set to met at St Mary’s this weekend- hosts Steeple Ashton Rangers lost out on the title to Corsham United by an inferior goal difference after finishing with 22 points apiece.

The spoils were shared last season with one win each and like those games, this is a hard one to call and may see the points shared, but if there is to be a winner Ashton may edge a low scoring game.
