KNOCKOUT CUP PREVIEW: Piggy bank on cup success

Third division, Pig & Whistle United A will be red hot favourites to book their place in the final 32 of this season’s Reebrooks Print Media-sponsored Eric Hughes Memorial Knock Out Cup.

With two more teams yet to book their place in round one, Unitedno  should have problems in putting their name in the hat when they visit fourth division Oakhill FC.

United have made a promising start to the season whereas Oakhill have yet to win a game so it would be a surprise if Richard Allen’s visitors to Kington Langley did claim a comfortable win.

Fourth division, newcomers Worton & Cheverell, who picked up their first win of the season last weekend, travel to Sands Lane, Rowde, for a meeting with near neighbours Cavalier FC.

Worton will go into the game as underdogs but they shouldn’t be written off as they showed what they were capable of last Sunday when they beat high-flying Old Road 6-3, and if they could conjure up another first class effort, then they will an outside chance of joining Old Road and Crossblades as the other two fourth division sides left in the competition.
