PREMIER DIVISION PREVIEW: Colerne put unbeaten run on the line
12:30pm Friday 7th September 2012 in News
HAVING started life in the top flight of the S.K. Fruits Limited Chippenham Sunday League Premier Division with a home win over AFC Calne, FC Colerne will look to stretch their unbeaten league run to 17 matches when they visit AFC Melksham , who will give the visitors to Bowerhill one of their hardest tests for a while.
The match has the potential to be a thriller as both sides have some quality players and it may even end with honours being shared.
Hwever if there is to be a winner the hosts may just edge what could be a low scoring game.
FC Jager travel to Beversbrook to take on last season's WG Parr Trophy winners AFC Calne .
Jager started life in the top flight last week with a comfortable 4-1 win over Semington, while AFC Calne lost 3-1 to an in-form Colerne side.
Wiltshire Sunday Cup champions FC Jager have strengthened their squad slightly from last season with a few key signings and will be hopeful of picking up their second win of the season.
But Calne proved last season, that on their day, they are more than a match for anyone, as Jager's Melksham rivals AFC Melksham found out in last season's WG Parr Trophy final.
Biddestone Social got the defence of their title under way with a victory over FC Brunel last Sunday and Dan Lardner’s side will be looking to pick up another two points when they visit Semington Rovers this Sunday.
The champions have an impressive record against Allan Clarke’s hosts, having won all 10 of the league meetings to date and it will take a huge shock for Rovers to upset the odds this Sunday.
Westbury Rangers A should be flush with players following the demise of their Reserve side prior to the start of the season.
Rangers, who kick off their campaign this week by hosting FC Brunel, will be confident that they can do more damage to Adam O’Keeffe’s side, who were beaten by Biddestone last weekend.
Brunel will be up for the challenge and could actually get something from the game even if it is just a point.
