LEAGUE AWARDS NIGHT: Holloway named as number one secretary

Barry Holloway picks up his award from Gazette & Herald and Wiltshire Times sports editor Owen Houlihan
BARRY Holloway, secretary of Division One FC Jager, capped a remarkable season which saw his Melksham side top the table and win the Wiltshire Sunday Cup at the first attempt.
Holloway was rewarded for his efforts off the field by claiming the secretary of the year award. Jager only missed out on a unique treble when they suffered a 2-1 loss to Bug & Spider in the final of the Knockout Cup. Holloway has been the ever-present secretary of the club which he formed in 2008 and has impressed with his dealings to league business, consistent match reports and previews and his general all-round attitude in getting fixtures played.
Last season, when expecting a fixture backlog due to his team’s excellent cup runs, he arranged midweek fixtures to help ensure the league completed its fixtures in April.
Holloway, 31, has been a round the local football scene for many years, playing his Saturday football at Seend United and Melksham Town Reserves and, before setting up FC Jager, was the successful captain of Spencer Sports (now Miller Sports) .
He enjoyed success there when his side won the Division Two title and lifted the WG Parr Trophy in 2005 before being crowned Division One champions the following season.
After setting up FC Jager (formerly Melksham Jagerbar) his first season in charge saw his side finish third in Division Four.
The following season they finished as runners-up to North Star B in Division Three, but they had the consolation of winning the WG Parr Trophy.
2011 saw them top Division Two before the last trophy-laden campaign.
Holloway received a memento from the awards sponsor, the award the Gazette & Herald, and a cheque for £50 from the league.
