LEAGUE AWARDS NIGHT: Fair dues to Semington

PREMIER Division side Semington Rovers had reason to celebrate at last night’s presentation night, earning a £250 windfall after topping the Fair Play charts.

Allan Clarke’s side may have had one of their worst-ever season’s since they reached the Premier Division in 2007, winning just five of their 16 games, but they collected £100 for their divisional fair play award, plus £150 for the overall prize with an average mark of 8.31.

Other divisional winners claimed £100 a piece.

Green Bell FC topped Division One, Miller Sports headed Division Two, White Horse capped their best-ever season by finishing top of Division Three and last season’s overall winners Crossblades, who just missed out on the top award for a second successive season, topped Division Four with an average of 8.28. There was also a cash bonus for the sides who finished in second and third place in their respective divisions.

Bug & Spider (Premier), FC Brunel (One), The Wren (Two), and Rose & Crown (Four) all received £60 while Pig & Whistle United & Somerford collected £42.50 each after finishing joint second in Division Three.

FC Bradford (Premier), North Star A (One), Southwick Wanderers (Two), and The Mallard, who have withdrawn from the league, netted £25 each for finishing third in their respective divisions.

The awards, to the total of £1,075 , were funded from league coffers and presented by treasurer Doreen Rugg.
