CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE SUBSIDIARY CUP PREVIEW: Talbot out to top Group C
1:18pm Friday 15th March 2013 in News
SHOULD Vic Long’s third division Talbot beat Pig & Whistle United B for a second time, the Calne-based side will find themselves top of the Group C table in the early stages of the Subsidiary Cup.
Talbot beat their fourth division opponents 8-1 in the reverse fixture and they should take maximum points for a second time but it is unlikely that they will make further progress from the group as Bug & Spider, who have still to play Pig & Whistle twice, should go on and top the group.
But for one week at least Talbot should hold pole position.
Group D winners Steeple Ashton Rangers will host Kings Arms (All Cannings) in the final match of the group.
In a fixture that both teams will view as unnecessary as the outcome will be irrelevant, Ashton would like to make it four out of four wins and after beating Jim Wilson’s side 4-3 away from home.
They would hope for a more convincing result at St Mary’s. The visitors hit form against Prestige last weekend and they would like to sign off with another win.
But the dead rubber has every chance of ending with honours being shared.
