CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION: Ten-man Colerne beat Westbury

TEN-MAN FC Colerne took the spoils from Westbury Rangers in their first of back-to-back games in the S.K. Fruits Limited Chippenham Sunday League Premier Division.
The WG Parr Trophy finalists played the whole game at Meadow Lane with 10 players and managed after falling a goal behind to turn things around to claim a 4-3 win.
A first goal for the club from Gavin Palmer put Westbury ahead on 10 minutes.
The next goal was crucial as if it went against Colerne their heads could have drop but it went their way.
A free kick from Sam Puckett was launched into the Westbury six yard box and Chris Dixon beat the Westbury keeper to loop the ball into the net.
Colerne now settled took the lead on 35 minutes, Chris Burling striking home a low drive from 25 yards for his first for the villagers to give them a half time lead.
They increased their lead on 55 minutes. Dave Leask broke up play just to the left of his own penalty area and played in Chris Dixon, a brilliant one-two between the players saw Leask cross for Dixon to head home his second of morning making it 3-1.
Adam Pechey added number for in the 70th minute and it should have been game over.
That wasn’t the case as two quick goals from Chris Storey got Rangers back in the game.
However the 10 men of Colerne were able to hang on and claim first blood ahead of next week’s meeting at their own Bath Road ground.
The game was refereed excellently by Ben Williamson.
