CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE WG PARR TROPHY: Renegades put Cavalier to the sword

AS EXPECTED, first division Bradford Renegades will face Premier Division FC Colerne in the final of this season’s Westernsport Trophies-sponsored WG Parr Trophy.

Renegades, who had netted 24 goals in their previous three cup matches, were odds-on favourites to beat Division Three basement side Cavalier and the delayed semi-final at Poulton produced another goal glut, Renegades' 11-0 taking them through to their first-ever cup final.

Sam Jordan, who has been unplayable for much of the season, ripped the heart out of Cavalier with a five-timer, his first coming in the first minute when he headed home a Josh Magiure free kick.

Jordan set up Mark Robinson to drive home number two, Jordan again provided the assist for Robinson’s second before Robinson completed his hat-trick with a curling left-footed volley.

Ashley Styles made it 5-0 with a well-taken solo goal and Robinson added his four of the morning before Jordan, with a superb bicycle kick, made it 7-0 at the break with his second of the game.

The second half may have seen the goals dry up, but Jordan Pinder volleyed in number eight before birthday boy Jordan added three more to take his personal tally for the morning to five and his season’s tally to 74 goals in just 17 games.

With Renegades already having beaten Colerne in the Knockout Cup, April’s Parr Trophy final could be a classic should both teams play to their full potential.
