CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION THREE PREVIEW: Rangers must win to stay in title hunt
3:00pm Friday 1st March 2013 in News
DUE to their recent Subsidiary Cup action, Corsham Park Rangers who until last Sunday had topped the Division Three since the start of December, find themselves in second spot behind FC Buscots.
Rangers host North Star B and they will be looking to put the disappointment of last week's cup defeat to Corsham United behind them.
Rangers beat their hosts 5-1 on the opening day of the season and again in the Knockout Cup so a hat-trick of victories is on the cards but they are unlikely to match the 17-4 scoreline they achieved last time out.
Garry Marshall’s relegation-threatened Bremhill View Boys side have a mountain to climb if they are to have any chance of staying in the division.
Already four points from safety and having played three more games than the team above them, they are likley to suffer more disappointment when they host leaders FC Buscots.
Buscots narrowly won the reverse fixture 4-3 but should have few problems in taking the points on offer to stretch their winning run to 14 matches.
Three defeats in their last four outings for Fortune Inn have all but ended their chances of finishing in the top two.
Budge Hylands' side who have played just nine league matches are playing catch up and with local rivals Pack Horse Rangers next on their menu, Fortune have the chance to pick up valuable points.
They will have to do it without last term's top scorer Richie Bolter who broke a wrist for the second time.
Like Fortune Inn, Richard Allen’s side Pig & Whistle United A have to play catch up.
The Melksham-based side have played 11 games but their meeting with PSC Galaxy will be the fist time that the teams have met.
Although promotion hopefuls Galaxy were held to a draw last weekend by Pack Horse, the villagers will be confident that a trip to Melksham will yield a win to get them back in the title race.
