CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION THREE PREVIEW: Cavalier desperate to end winless run
5:00pm Friday 22nd February 2013 in News
IT IS hard to believe that after causing a major WG Parr Trophy upset back in December by beating first division Castle FC, Andy Holman’s Cavalier are still looking to break their Division Three duck.
Cavalier have lost all nine of their league games to date and visit a North Star B side who are just outside of the drop zone.
With both sides desperate for the points it should make for an entertaining game which the Star are tipped to win.
A week after they suffered a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Christian Malford, Gary Marshall takes his Bremhill View Boys side to Kington Langley for the return match.
This is must-win game or both sides, victory for Bremhill would edge them closer to getting out of the drop zone, while a win for Malford, who should already be safe, would guarantee their survival.
The result should be another close one and for a second week running it is Malford who ought to emerge victorious.
With leaders Corsham Park Rangers in Subsidiary Cup action, FC Buscots have a good chance of claiming the number one spot from Tim Spear’s side.
Buscots, who have won all 12 games to date, travel to Fortune Inn who could be the side to break their winning sequence.
Taking no chances with the weather, the game has been switched to the 3G pitch at Stanley Park and could see Fortune, who beat Buscots 2-0 the last time the sides met, do the same again and open up the promotion race.
One win from six games isn’t the ideal preparation for Pack Horse Rangers ahead of their game with PSC Galaxy especially as one of those losses was at Galaxy, who beat Paul Kidley’s side 8-1 back in November.
Galaxy are third in the standings and despite dropping three points this term are very much in the promotion battle.
They should have few problems in picking up another two points when they visit Stanley Park.
