SUBSIDARY CUP: Late goal gives Prestige victory over Kings Arms
11:45am Monday 11th February 2013 in News
THE SUBSIDARY Cup made a return to the league calendar for the first time since the 2003/04 season.
Like the other cup competitions, this one suffered as the Group A match between Fourth Division stable mates Old Road and FC North Wiltshire was called off.
Having switched the game from Langley Burrell to Leafy Lane, it was then switched back at the last minute with the latter being unplayable.
With both teams back at Langley Burrell the referee then called a halt to proceedings as he deemed that pitch unplayable.
Group D: Prestige Bodyworks 3 Kings Arms (All Cannings) 2
First Division Prestige Bodyworks kicked of their Group D campaign with a 3-2 victory over Second Division Kings Arms (All Cannings) - they left it very late before they denied Jim Wilson’s side a draw.
James Pope put Prestige in front when he followed up to head home after a superb double stop from the Arms keeper Paul Clark.
Five minutes into the second half Zac Klukowski, was on hand to double the Prestige lead, again keeper Clark produced a smart stop but he was unable to keep out the follow up.
Kings Arms fought their way back into the game, reducing the arrears through Mark Roberts, and they levelled the score when Simon Drewitt found the back of the net.
With just two minutes remaining, Prestige won a corner and Jamie Treweke swung it in the area and it somehow found it way over everyone on for the unfortunate Clark to help it into the net to give Prestige their 3-2 success.
