WG PARR TROPHY: Renegades are hot favorites to reach final

COME Sunday afternoon, the first of the finalists of this season’s Westernsport Trophies-sponsored WG Parr Trophy should be known.

The first semi-final to be played at Poulton looks on paper as if it will be a one-sided affair as it pairs together first division leaders Bradford Renegades and Division Three basement side Cavalier

Renegades, who reached this stage with wins over Talbot FC (9-2), FC Brunel (12-0) and North Star A, who they beat 3-2, should have few problems in making it to their first-ever final.

But Cavalier, who have yet claim a league win, have saved their best for this cup competition.

Having disposed of first division Castle in the previous round after a penalty shoot out win over Trowbridge Town Supporters Club which was preceded with a bye, they will hope to keep their cup run alive.

That shouldn’t really happen as Renegades, with their superior firepower, ought to cruise into April’s final.
