CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION ONE PREVIEW: David versus Goliath at Poulton
1:00pm Friday 1st February 2013 in News
DIVISION One leaders Bradford Renegades will be confident of adding another two points to their impeccable tally when they take on North Star A in what is being billed as a David versus Goliath battle.
The hosts, who hope to see manager Lance Davis return to the starting line-up following a recent suspension, have 14 points more than their guests who have yet to win this season.
Renegades will be huge favourites to pick up a ninth straight win at the expense of their guests, however North Star gave their hosts a close game in the Parr Trophy back in December losing 3-2 and, if they show the same fighting spirit, they could avoid what is expected to be a heavy defeat.
An in-form Biddestone White Horse side face a tricky home meeting with a Castle FC team who have won three of their last four league games, the only blemish coming at leaders Bradford Renegades.
The corresponding fixture finished in a goalless draw last term before Castle won the reverse fixture 2-0.
This is the first meeting of the sides this term and is expected to be another low scoring contest which Biddestone are tipped to win.
Prestige Bodyworks were just one of six sides who managed to fit a fixture in last weekend, but their 6-1 defeat to Castle FC was not they would have wanted ahead of their game with a FC Boroughs side who are bidding for a fifth successive win.
Seeing as they have already beaten their guests at Sherston 6-2 the points should remain with the Malmesbury-based outfit.
Quick thinking by league fixture secretary Andy Hillier has allowed him to reschedule the Steeple Ashton Rangers versus Bromham clash which was postponed last weekend.
The teams will hopefully meet for the first time this term and like a week ago Ashton will start as favourites to win the battle of the villages.
