CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION ONE: Ashton look to bounce back at St Mary’s
1:00pm Friday 4th January 2013 in News
IN THEIR last outing in 2012, Steeple Ashton Rangers suffered a 10-1 loss to Division one title favourites Bradford Renegades.
But the villagers have a great chance to kick-off the new year in style when they host basement side North Star A, who are still looking to register their first win of the season.
Although Ashton have won just one from four, it is the hosts who should start the New Year with a win.
Bradford Renegades and star striker Sam Jordan have been in imperious form this term.
Renegades are currently in second place and two points away from top spot and Jordan, who has scored seven successive hat-tricks, is in red-hot form.
Both ought to add to their tally this Sunday when they host Castle FC, who they have already beaten 5-1 this term and although Castle shouldn’t be written off an upset is improbable.
FC Boroughs and Bromham (Sunday) fought out a 12-goal thriller when they met earlier in the season, with a 6-6 draw leading to the points being shared.
The reverse clash is unlikely to be as exciting as Boroughs, who have won three on the spin, look to have found their feet in the division and the Malmesbury-based side are predicted to keep their winning run going to leave their with no win in eight.
An out-of-sorts Prestige Bodyworks, plagued by injuries through December, will be hoping that 2013 can bring an end to their pre-Christmas nightmare that saw them concede 30 goals in four games.
Prestige host a Biddestone White Horse side who have already beaten them 4-1 this term and if things go to form the White Horse should canter to win number five of the season.
