DIVISION TWO PREVIEW: Miller next up for impressive White Horse
2:40pm Friday 2nd November 2012 in News
WITH Division Two leaders Staverton in Knock Out Cup action, second-in-the-table White Horse visit Miller Sports, looking for a victory that would see them close the gap at the top to just two points.
Clive Black’s men have won five on the spin since they lost to Staverton on the opening day of the season and it would be a massive shock if they didn’t extend that winning run even further with what should be another convincing victory.
Goatacre CC, who suffered their first loss of the season last weekend when they were beaten by White Horse FC, should have few problems in returning to winning ways when they host Tam Laidlaw’s GRFC this Sunday.
However, having fought out two thrilling draws last term which both finished three apiece, this game could end in stalemate but current form points to a win for the home team.
One of the games of the day could be the one between Somerford and Sutton Benger, who are both looking for an immediate return to winning ways after respective defeats to Staverton and Southwick Wanderers a week ago.
Both sides have had an up-and-down two months and it would be fair to say that neither have hit top form and it is hard to say which of the two teams will prevail in this encounter.
Both Wren FC and their guests at Beversbrook, Kings Arms (All Cannings), will see the fixture as one that could generate them a much need two points.
Carl Murray’s hosts have failed to take any points in seven while Jim Wilson’s Kings Arms side fair a little better with three points from a possible 14.
The smart money would be on a Kings Arms win due to their greater firepower in front of goal, however if Wren could tighten up at the back and find their scoring boots they may just upset the odds.
