DIVISION FOUR PREVIEW: Leaders look to extend stay at the summit

OLD Road FC, who missed out on a fixture last weekend, would have expected to go into the latest round of fixtures having been knocked off the summit of Division Four but results went for the leaders, who will have the chance to maintain pole position when they host Crossblades this weekend.

Blades suffered a 4-2 defeat when the sides met earlier in the season and although they have lost just once in four outings, Old Road are likely to prove to be too strong for them again and Andy Roses’ side should collect another two points in their bid for promotion.

FC United of Chippenham have already beaten Oakhill FC 4-1 this term and after Dudley Philpott’s side arrested a four match losing run last weekend, they will be favourites to complete a double over their local rivals when the teams lock horns in the reverse fixture at Stanley Park this weekend.

Sportzcoach Dragonz United are breathing down the neck of Old Road and the form book suggests they will continue to put pressure on the pole sitters with a victory over Worton & Cheverell (Sunday).

But Worton, who have stunned both Old Road and Pig & Whistle B, will be out to cause another shock in a game they shouldn’t really win but could do if Sportzcoach underestimate them.

Trowbridge Town Supporters Club suffered a 2-1 loss away at Melksham Cosmos on the opening day of the season and although Cosmos will fancy their chances of beating Kevin Williams' side for a second time, the supporters’ club will be buoyed by last weeks excellent win over FC North Wiltshire.

If Williams’ side could pick up where they left off then they have every chance of avenging their earlier loss but they will have to be at their best.
