MORE than 500 spectators watched Wessex League Vale take on their npower League One visitors at Ball Road last night.
Crewe were captained by Jon Guthrie, who signed for the Railwaymen from Vale last season, with his brother Rob appearing for the Wiltshire men.
Unsurprisingly, the visitors dominated much of the match, but Vale kept it scoreless until just before the half-hour mark when Matt Clayton turned and fired home.
Both sides made changes in the second half as Crewe pulled clear, Mathias Pogba scoring a seven-minute hat-trick, including a header from a Guthrie cross.
Pewsey boss Lewis Taylor said: "It was the biggest crowd we've had in my time with the club and a lovely atmosphere. A lot of the hard work that wnr into it paid off.
"It was the ultimate pre-season work-out for our lads and I tol them to go out and enjoy it. They worked massively hard.
"We had some very nice comments from Crewe about the evening.''
