ADI Holcome admitted that his Pewsey Vale side should have been punished for their below-par first-half performance against Amesbury Town on Tuesday night but was pleased to see his team claim their first win in five matches.
Ryan Banks levelled the scores at half-time after Vale had fallen behind and Matt Bissett’s header made it 2-2 after Amesbury netted again early in the second period.
But Craig Wall popped up with the winner in the 90th minute with a right-footed toe-poke from Jack Hopper’s delivery.
“We should have been 4-0 down at half-time and I really went off on one in the changing rooms, but I got a reaction,” said Holcombe.
“We were much better and we reminded ourselves what we’re all about.
“We needed that win because we’ve had a lot of draws recently in games we should have won.”
Last Saturday, Hopper grabbed the equaliser as Pewsey drew 1-1 with Fleet Spurs.
