FOOTBALL: DEVIZES Town manager Paul Thompson has played down the club's lack of goals ahead of Saturday's FA Cup clash with Calne.
His side fired blanks during pre-season and failed to score against Corsham and Bitton in their opening two Toolstation League games.
They will now try again at Nursteed Road (3pm) against the Lilywhite's.
Thompson said: "If we have only scored five goals after 15 games we will have a problem, but we are creating chances so I am not worried.
"Players are snatching at shots, but when the first goal comes it will settle everyone down."
Town scored only 27 goals last season and have not hit the net since Simon Drewitt's goal against Willand Rovers on the last day of last season.
Thompson added: "Everyone goes through a barren patch and I wouldn't even call this one."
However, Thompson has held talks with Neil Hards, manager of Cirencester Town who do not have a reserve team, to try and solve the problem. He said: "We have offered to help out if they feel a couple of their players need to go out for a few weeks.
"My aim is to improve on last season and if we finish even sixth from bottom we would have done that.
"I can definitely say we will not fail."
