Biddestone 0 Welton Rovers 1

IT was a case of a very bad road trip for three Biddestone stars, as they crashed out of the cup in heartbreaking fashion at the Southbank last Wednesday.

Jamie Lyons' own goal in the first minute of extra time sealed their fate in the quarter finals against Welton, while Luke Gullick missed a penalty and James Tindle was taken to hospital with an eye injury.

Manager Graham Learmonth said all three had travelled to the game together and he was glad no one else was in the cursed car.

He said: "It was comical to be honest. I'm just glad I wasn't in it as well."

Learmonth praised his side's efforts against their strong Premier League opponents.

"We played ever so well and we did the club proud," he said. "I couldn't fault anyone. We missed a couple of chances and, on another day, they may have gone in."

A bizarre own goal decided the game as Lyons sliced his clearance into the net after Chris Snoddy had tipped a shot onto the bar.
