Toolstation First Division:SUPERIOR finishing and a bit of luck saw Chard Town edge visiting Biddestone on Saturday.
Although Biddestone dominated the game, with Ryan Trowbridge and Jack Nicholas performing well up front, the away side failed to convert any of their chances.
With half an hour gone it was Chard who scored the only goal as the defence failed to deal with a long kick from the home goalkeeper.
Once the ball bounced the away defence was in trouble and Chard striker Adam Fricker ran onto score.
Biddestone continued to have the better of the game with young Paul Borman having his side's best chance, his shot hitting the bar before being hacked away off the line.
Biddestone boss Graham Learmonth said he could not fault his side's commitment.
He said: "We played ever so well. We totally dominated but for one lapse in concentration.
"The whole side played superbly for the 90 minutes and that will be a hard lesson.
"Sometimes it just goes that way, but for a team that is fourth in the division we matched them. They certainly did not look any better than us."
Learmonth hopes to sign Calne Town striker Dan Lardner this week.
