LATE goals from Terry Moore and Lee Harper gave Down Ampney a 2-0 win over Aldbourne to enable them to move up to second spot in the Premier Division.
Aldbourne assistant Ian Restell said he wasn't too disappointed with the result and felt the score flattered the home side.
He added: "We had a couple of players drop out this morning, had one suspended and lost key midfield player Gavin Cook to Hellenic side Fairford.
"I'm not looking for excuses, the players that came in did well and we had our chances to have won the game.
"We will pick ourselves up and concentrate on beating Calne next Saturday. The top of the table is so tight, with the lead changing every week.
"I will be doing a bit of scouting this week for a midfielder to replace Gavin and hopefully we will get back to winning ways next week."
Ampney got off to a brisk start and had the edge early on but Aldbourne battled well and got back into the game and at the half-time whistle honours were even.
Play switched from end to end after the break with both sides creating chances.
However, with 10 minutes to go Dave Levitt threaded a good ball through for Moore to slot past the keeper and sub Harper made sure of victory with a deflected effort in the last couple of minutes.
Westside's run of victories came to an end when they were held to a 2-2 draw by visitors Marlborough Town.
Mark Simpkins gave the home side an interval lead with a good solo effort but two goals in the space of five minutes by Adam Legg soon after the break put Town in the driving seat.
Not to be outdone, Westside fought back to take a share of the points with a strike from Craig Roberts in the last quarter of an hour.
Westside boss Joe O'Rourke said it was an entertaining game and added: "It would have been a bit unfair if either side had won we were pretty evenly matched on the day."
New College fought back after being two down to share the points at Calne in a 2-2 draw. Mark Sharratt netted in the seventh minute for the home side and Ryan Pratley added a second midway through the half.
College got back into the game just before the break with a strike from Matt Horsell, with Ashley Chapman grabbing an equaliser midway through the second half.
Purton Reserves found it tough going at Shrewton, going down 6-1 Martin Gowan chalking up a hat- trick for the home side with a brace from Ross Alonzo Russell and one from Ricky Williams. Purton's consolation was a 30-yard free-kick from Wes Pidgeon.
Warminster Town defeated leaders Melksham Town 4-0 with two goals from Tom Welch and one each from Dave Watkins and Jason Guy.
AFC Trowbridge dominated their game with Pewsey Vale but only managed to find the net once through Dean Murdon.
They also missed a second-half penalty.
Bromham also missed a penalty at Westbury losing out to the home side 2-1, Tim Coombes netting twice for the home side and James McLaughlin for Bromham.
Leaders of Junior One, Wroughton were forced to work hard for their 3-2 victory at Biddestone, Arron Pearce (2) for the home side and Lee Curtis (2) and Tom Steptoe for the Swindon side.
AFC Stratton and Barron Heating shared six goals. Kev Coles (2) and Rick Casey for Stratton and Stratton Rovers and Minety drew 2-2, Lou Cunningham and Ashley Channing for Rovers.
Swindon Asians gained a 5-2 away success at Blunsdon and in the second round of the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup, Marlborough Town Reserves beat Lower Stratton 2-0 thanks to a brace from Amit Deboe.
In the top-of-the-table clash in Junior Two, Aldbourne Reserves ran out 2-1 winners over Stratton Rovers Reserves and QT Swindon beat Bromham Reserves 3-1.
AFC Rodbourne are the new leaders of the section after beating CHQ 3-2. Trailing by two goals at one stage, AFC drew level with goals from Craig Andrews and Nolan Paul.
Keeper Paul Paginton then went off injured and with outfield player Paul Goulding in goal they snatched the winner through Sam Bailey midway through the second half.
Blueprint were the highest scorers with a 7-1 victory over Westlecot Reserves Dave Griffin with a hat-trick, Gavin Klukowski (2), Luke Rodrigues and James Riddett the scorers.
