Chippenham Sports & Social 3, Christian Malford 5

CHIPPENHAM Sports and Social Club found the net three times in the second half, after going four matches without scoring, but still ended up losing out to Christian Malford.

Due to weather conditions the match had to be switched to Malford's pitch.

Prior to the game, both teams and supporters held a minute silence in memory of Eddie Swannack who passed away on Saturday evening.

Eddie, besides having connections to Christian Malford through his son, will be well remembered by those connected to Biddestone.

Malford came out flying and after three minutes Mark Golledge bent low to meet a Steve Evans corner at the near post to give Malford the lead.

Shawn House met Scott Evans' right wing cross to head home number two and Gary Blackwood pounced to slot home Malford's third from close range.

Blackwood struck again to volley home from another corner to secure a comfortable half time lead.

After giving the Malford defence a couple of early warnings, a quick and decisive passing move led to Shane Bell volleying home from just inside the penalty area to break Sports & Social's run of scoreless games.

After 65 minutes, in virtually a repeat move, the same player volleyed home to bring the score back to 4-2.

Mark Golledge fired home a loose ball in a rare Malford attack to restore a three-goal lead but Sports and Social scored straight from the restart.

A mistake by a Malford defender gave Adie Bray the chance to make it 5-3 which he duly took to complete the scoring.
