Melksham defender Ryan Trowbridge praised his teammates for their battling qualities after they picked up three more points, but said the best is yet to come.
Wayne Thorne’s side are exceeding all expectations this season and currently sit fourth in Western Premier Division, and could move to second if they win their two games in hand.
The centre-back says that while they are not always playing attractive football at the moment, the most important thing is the results.
“We’re playing okay, but really we’re just doing enough to win at the moment,” he said.
“At Street the weather had been poor and it was a heavy pitch, so it was never going to be a pretty game. Wayne was chuffed with the result but we all feel like we have more to offer as a side.”
Midfielder Kris Beasley scored the game’s only goal on the hour mark with a stunning right-footed thunderbolt from the edge of the area.
“At the start of the season I never thought we’d be where we are now,” said Trowbridge.
Melksham also advanced to the next round of the Les Phillips Cup on Saturday with a 2-1 win at lower league Cadbury Heath.
Goals from Greg Tindle and Nat Auckland won it.
