Football: Delighted Calne Town manager Robbie Lardner believes re-signing James Lye is a statement of intent from the Lilywhites.
Striker Lye has returned to Bremhill View after a successful season with Corsham Town, where he scored 21 goals.
Lye scored the opener in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Chippenham Town and Lardner says the frontman will prove a big asset.
"We want to improve and we know the signing of James tells a lot of people we want to do a lot better," he said.
"He is a super player and a good character and we missed him last year.
"These things do not come easily but he wanted to make the right decision for himself."
Lardner was speaking following the game with the Bluebirds and was happy with how his team performed.
"I was pleased with our fitness levels, we worked hard tried to play football and defended particularly well," he said.
"I made it clear I was looking for a really good blow out."
