AMBITIOUS Corsham Town boss Mel Gingell has put in a seven day approach for Melksham Town striker Steve Tweddle.
With just Simon Gray and James Lye as recognised strikers, the Southbank manager is turning to the experienced Tweddle for more firepower.
"I haven't got enough forwards, which is why I have gone in for him," said Gingell who cannot speak to Tweddle until the seven days expire on Monday.
"It will be up to him, I don't know if he is interested but he is a nice lads and we got on well when I was manager at Melksham.
"I thought I'd try and see if he wanted to play with our talented youngsters."
Gingell wants the former Chippenham Town targetman to ease the pressure on Lye and Gray, who have scored eight goals between them this season.
"They are both very quick and will be able to learn off him," he said.
Lye is unavailable for Saturday's Toolstation League Premier Division match at home to Brislington and, with midfielder Jason Walsh injured and defender Craig Gingell suspended, the manager's squad is threadbare.
"I knew it was going to happen sometime because we haven't got enough players," said Gingell, who is also hoping to sign another unnamed player this week.
"We will just have to get through the next three or four games and then the players will be back."
