WITH a Division Two Cup semi-final to look forward to next weekend, Heytesbury bought the curtain down on their Division Two promotion-winning campaign with a 7-3 victory at The Stiffs.

The Stiffs took a deserved lead after four minutes, Stan Keen finding the net after Steve Lewin had been denied by both the post and crossbar.

Charlie Waylen’s neat finish levelled things up on 13 minutes and Heytesbury went 2-1 ahead in the 24th minute when keep Sam Spratt found Craig Sheppard, who laid the ball to Ashley Kinkead to fire home.

Back came the Stiffs with Chris Giles heading home for 2-2 on 32 minutes, but they were unable to hold out until the break as Waylen toe-poked home a Dave Wren throw to give the villagers a half-time lead.

Sheppard made it 4-2 early in the second half and he added his second soon after to claim his 61st goal of the campaign which saw him break the club's record for goals scored in a season, Kinkead providing the assist for both goals.

Mike Payne headed home his first ever goal for the club to make it 6-2 and he added his second and Heytesbury seventh after George Hartrey had lashed home a stunning 25-yard free kick to give the Stiffs their third of the afternoon.

Aces had the perfect build up to their cup semi-final meeting with Heytesbury next Saturday as they came from behind to claim a narrow 4-3 victory over Trowbridge Wanderers Development.

Dominic Mortimer may have given Wanderers the lead but they trailed 3-1 at the interval as goals from Kegan Smart, Dan Hatcher and Joe Garraway enabled Aces to turn things around.

Vijay Manro made to 4-1 from the penalty spot but as Aces took their foot of the gas, Wanderers sprang into life and goals from Andre Riberimo and Kye Teague made for a nervy finale.
