MELKSHAM Town Reserves restored their lead at the top of the Premier Division to eight points as they took advantage of the inaction of nearest rivals Cricklade Town on Saturday.

Melksham, who themselves had missed out on a fixture the previous week, wrapped up a 3-0 win at home to Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development to re-open the gap, although Cricklade Town do have two games in hand.

Rhys Talmash netted his 15th goal of the season for the home side, while Seth Wain and an own goal completed the victory.

Shrewton United leapfrogged inactive Kintbury Rangers into third place in the table with a 1-0 triumph over Pewsey Vale Development.

Kintbury’s match at Trowbridge Town was postponed but United needed Craig Stevens’ second-half strike to end the resistance of stubborn Vale.

Wroughton moved up behind Kintbury with a 4-3 home victory over second-from-bottom side Bremhill.

Aaron Maximen scored twice for the home side, Tyler Wilkinson and Jordan Lea also on target, but Bremhill went down fighting, Caine Bradbury netting twice and Alfie Presley also on target.

Marlborough Town remained seventh after seeing off Ludgershall Sports 3-0, Robert Harland, Aaron Presley and Elliott Smith their marksmen.

Malmesbury Victoria Development and Devizes Town Reserves could not be separated, Kyle Witt scoring for a second game in succession for Malmesbury as Martin Mitchell’s penalty earned Devizes a point.

Corsham Town Reserves followed up their 4-0 victory over Royal Wootton Bassett Development with an identical scoreline against basement boys Bassett Bulldogs. Emilio Mudrak scored twice and joint top scorers Adam Mitchell and Aaron Masson also netted as Corsham climbed to ninth.
