AFTER failing in the first four attempts, Town finally recorded their first home win of the season last Saturday.

The 3-2 victory over Stevenage was not only the first success at the County Ground in this campaign but the first since the end of March when Conor Thomas’ last-minute goal sank Millwall.

Town dominated the first half on Saturday and were 2-0 up thanks to goals from Luke Norris and Keshi Anderson, both of whom were near faultless all afternoon.

Norris had a tough time last season and never looked capable of leading the line in League One, but in League Two he’s showing what he can offer to our promotion cause.

Unfortunately Swindon’s defensive frailties were again on show for all to see, and we were dealt a huge blow as Dion Conroy limped off at the end of the first half.

At the moment we haven’t been told how long he’ll be out of action, but it didn’t look too good for the former Chelsea man.

His absence is a huge headache for the manager as not only has he lost a good player but he’s now down to two recognised centre backs.

Although there is no longer an emergency loan window, Flitcroft could see if there are any free agents out there who could play backup until January, or he can chance it and hope there isn’t another injury.

Tomorrow is a day of firsts for Swindon Town.

Swindon have never made the short trip to the small Gloucestershire town of Nailsworth to face Forest Green Rovers - but they did meet in 2007 in the FA Cup at the County Ground.

It will also be the first time the club has gone head-to-head with former manager Mark Cooper since he left the club in 2015.

Although I didn’t initially agree with his appointment as manager in 2013, he won myself and a lot of other fans round during his time as Swindon boss and hopefully he will get a good reception from the travelling fans tomorrow evening at the New Lawn.
