THE world's greenest football club have moved their training ground to a quality new premises in Chippenham ahead of their first season in the Football League.

Forest Green Rovers have signed a two year contract to train at Stanley Park, a 47-acre site with a 3G floodlit artificial grass pitch, top of the range changing rooms and refreshment areas.

Forest Green Rovers' chairman Dale Vince said: “The facilities at Stanley Park are of a high standard and we believe they will play an important part as we embark on our historic first season in the football league.

“FIFA recently named us the world’s greenest football club, so we’re looking forward to using our expertise to help Stanley Park emulate the success we’ve achieved areas of sustainability.”

In order to maintain their infamous high environmental standards, the club, which are meat and dairy free, will be looking at introducing new green initiatives including a travel plan to help reduce the numbers of journeys being made by the players and reduce the amount of CO2 emissions.

Councillor Sandie Webb, leader of Chippenham Town Council, said: “These are exciting times at Stanley Park and we welcome Forest Green Rovers who are both a progressive football club and a leader in sustainability throughout all areas of the game. We look forward to the future working in close partnership with them.”
