MELKSHAM Town missed their chance to go second in the Toolstation League Premier Division after they lost 3-2 at home to Street.

Darren Perrin’s troop had taken a 2-0 lead in the first half at Oakfields, firstly Ben Thompson saw his free-kick headed in by a visiting defender.

They then doubled their advantage through Gary Higdon who was able to convert from the spot in the 44th minute.

However disaster struck seven minutes after the restart as the hosts were reduced to 10 men following Lee Davidon’s dismissal after he lashed out.

From the resulting free-kick the visitors halved Melksham’s lead when Ross McErlain headed home Lewis Tasker’s cross.

Tasker’s set-piece delivery caused further problems for Perrin’s side as he was again the provider for their second goal which restored parity once again.

With 15 minutes left to play the visitors struck the telling blow as Dale Hunt latched onto a loose ball to seal a 3-2 win for his team.

Elsewhere Bradford Town returned to winning ways in style as they thumped Sherborne Town 5-0 at home.

Martin Lenihan started the rout early on before Alex Monks and Dan Cottle made it 3-0 at the halfway stage.

In the second half both Monks and Cottle doubled up to complete the scoring for Danny Greaves’ outfit.

In the Toolstation League First Division Malmesbury Victoria picked up a 3-2 away win over Almondsbury UWE.

Goals from Andrew Baker, Danny Cook and George Peare wrapped up Malmesbury’s third win in their last four games.

Brett Partner’s Chippenham Park also recorded a victory as they were 1-0 winners at home to Portishead Town. Thanks to Charlie Norman’s late strike.

Devizes Town made the most of their numerical advantage away at Chard Town, after their goalkeeper hauled down Jordan Matthews as they picked up a 3-0 win.

Westbury United will have to settle for a point as they drew 1-1 away at Bishops Lydeard.

The visitors took the lead in the 55th minute before suffering a late sucker-punch in the 87th from Ryan Andrew.

Sadly for Warminster Town they slipped to their second defeat in as many weeks as they were swept aside by Keynsham Town who ran out 3-0 winners.

It was a similar story for both Corsham and Calne Town as both sides came away from the weekend empty-handed.

The former were beaten 4-0 away to Wellington while Corsham suffered a slender 1-0 loss at Radstock Town.

Meanwhile in the Sydenhams Division One, Pewsey Vale were defeated 3-1 by Totton & Eling.
