MELKSHAM Town boss Darren Perrin is hoping to round off a stellar week for the club by moving up to second in the Toolstation League Premier Division with a win over Street at the weekend.

Last weekend, Perrin’s side booked their place in the Les Phillips Cup semi-final with a 1-0 win over Buckland Athletic thanks to Luke Ballinger’s late strike.

They were then able to follow up that result with another 1-0 win at home, this time at the expense of Hallen on Monday night, courtesy of a Dan Kovacs goal.

Perrin will now look to capitalise on the momentum this Saturday as they look to leapfrog Street into second-place.

“The weekend saw us make four wins in a row and four back-to-back clean sheets,” said Perrin “Obviously, we are delighted to progress to the semi-final of the Les Phillips Cup.

“On Monday night, I think we were a little bit fortunate. We looked jaded and tired from the game on Saturday.

“That win sets the game up on Saturday incredibly well.”

Perrin has also been handed a timely boost as Sam Jordan and Mike Perrot both look set to return from injury for Saturday’s clash.

And while the Melksham manager is optimistic about his team’s chances, he is well aware of the difficulty of the task facing his side this weekend.

“With Tuesday’s results, I think it gives us a great chance of getting a top three finish,” he added.

“The incentive is now we could go second in the league.

“We are anticipating a big crowd again and we are under no illusions that we will go into the game as the underdogs. “Street have had a fantastic season and they are second for a reason. I’m aware we will need to produce a special performance to beat them.

“It is great we are at this time of year and there are still things to play for and we aren’t just going through the motions.”
