MELKSHAM Town A have been crowned Division One champions for the first time after their 4-1 success over near-neighbours Semington Magpies saw Dave Jenkins side finally pop open the champagne with two games to spare.

Rhys Talmash set Melksham on their way and although a battling Semington got back on level terms through Rich Allum his goal was just a consolation as a second for Talmash gave Jenkins' side a 2-1 half-time lead.

After the break, Talmash made it 3-1 courtesy of his third of the afternoon and the points and more importantly the title was secured when James Dark added number four to start Melksham’s title celebrations.

Hilperton United and Trowbridge Town Reserves had to settle for a point apiece from their 2-2 draw at Whaddon Lane.

Trowbridge should have had the points sown up in the first half, but after dominating the first 45 minutes all they had to show for their efforts was a Tom Caldicott goal on 38 minutes after Saul Johnson, Jason Truckle, Levi Wood and Caldicott himself had missed chances to put Trowbridge ahead.

Hilperton were a lot livelier in the second period and level things on 52 minutes through a cool finish from Reuben Spong.

Trowbridge wasted chances to regain the lead and fell behind to a second from Spong but they dragged themselves level on 70 minutes through Aaron McCaldon.

Both teams had chances in the dying minutes to take all three points the best of which fell to Hilperton’s Steve Ball who with the got at his mercy failed to hit the target from three yards out.

Warminster Town Reserves made the short trip to Stockton & Codford where they suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Jayson Stokes' hosts.

After a goalless first half it was Warminster who broke the deadlock through Carl Clarke.

Jason Povey levelled things up for Stockton and Sam McEntee fired home the winner.

A 3-2 victory for Westbury Town saw them complete a hat-trick of victories over local Westbury United Reserves.

Tom Blackman’s first-half double put Westbury Town in charge, however things turned around in the second period as goals from Brandon Thompson and James Cox got Westbury United back on level terms.

The ever-youthful Steve Munday rolled back the years as he bagged Town’s winner.
