THE match of the day in Division Two was at Holt where Bradford Town Youth, who started the day in third place, hosted leaders Calne Eagles in what was the first meeting of the season between the two promotion hopefuls .

It was Calne who took another big step towards automatic promotion with an incredibly hard-fought 2-0 win over a very talented Bradford side.

Calne’s top scorer Adam Welch broke the deadlock on 60 minutes with his 24th goal of the season. With 12 minutes left Karl Sharratt’s superb volley sealed victory for Ray Wenham’s side.

Mid-table sides Melksham Town B and Aces FC met at the Beeches, Shaw and unlike the first meeting that the latter won 5-3 back in October the points went the way of the hosts, who came from behind to claim a resounding 7-1 success.

Rob Bindon’s opener for Aces was cancelled out by Dan Walker, whose effort made it 1-1 at the break.

The second half was a one-sided affair as Walker added a second and Josh Thornton netted twice.

However the scoring honours went to Tom Jones who three-timer made up the winners' seven.

Three Daggers and The Stiffs locked horns for the first time this season and, although the latter went into the game with two wins under their belt in 2017, they were unable to prevent the Sam Tucker’s Daggers side from claiming an 11th straight win.

The Stiffs, despite losing 5-0, gave their opponents one of their toughest challenges to date.

A couple of mistakes gifted first-half goals to Joe Moloney and Shaun Sheppard.

Although Stiffs were by far the better team in the second half they conceded three more goals, two of which came from the penalty spot.

Ryan Earney scored both and, with the last kick of the game, an Earney effort was heavily deflected beyond his own keeper by Ali Batchelor.

Lambrok Road was the stage for the local derby between bottom of the table Trowbridge Wanderers Development and promotion-chasing Trowbridge Town A.

Town took the spoils for a second time thanks to the narrowest of 1-0 wins.

Jamie Moss had the chance to give Wanderers the lead but missed from the penalty spot just moments before Dan Filer netted the first-half winner for Bob Arberry’s men.

Near-neighbours Zeals FC and Warminster Town A fought out a seven-goal thriller with the latter claiming a 4-3 win.

Zeals were given a 1-0 lead thanks to Aaron Carter, however Henry McFerran who netted from a corner got Warminster on level terms before half-time.

Louis Cole reclaimed the lead for Warminster before Steve Wyatt restored parity for Zeals.

A first goal for Dewaker Gurung put Warminster 3-2 up and Ollie McFerran added a fourth before Luis Da Silva made things interesting with a third for Zeals, who were unable to snatch an equaliser as Warminster held on for victory.
