WITH A 4-0 victory at Trowbridge Town Reserves already under their belt this season, Division One leaders Melksham Town A stretched their lead at the summit to six points with a 5-1 win.

Saul Johnson got Trowbridge back on level terms after Nick Ridout had given Melksham the lead, but with seconds remaining in what was a tight first half Sean Fordham reclaimed the lead for Melksham.

Trowbridge were in the game until the 75th minute and then ran out of steam. A second from Fordham saw the hosts open up a 3-1 lead and after that a Rhys Talmash penalty and late Graham Griffiths goal handed Melksham their 10th win of the season.

Warminster Town Reserves finished 2016 with a 4-3 victory on the road at Semington Magpies and Pete Drew’s side would have been confident of beginning 2017 with a victory over the same opponents.

However they had to settle for a point after fighting back to claim a 2-2 draw.

Richard Allum and Sean O’Brien’s deflected free kick saw Magpies lead 2-1 at the break. Matt Dyer’s first-half free kick for Warminster was added to by Brendan Hind, whose penalty made it 2-2.
