SCOTT Lye has been handed another dream chance to become a professional footballer by AFC Bournemouth.
The Corsham Town midfielder, who has admitted he will quit the Southbank whatever the outcome, will travel to the League One outfit for a week of pre-season training on Monday, July 9, determined to take his second chance of stardom.
He had a trial with Bristol Rovers in October but the League Two play off winners decided against signing him.
"I didn't think it would happen again, so when I heard I was surprised but happy," he said. "I am still excited now.
"I know another opportunity does not come along often so I really need to take this one and it is all I am thinking about.
"I've got a couple of weeks but the nerves will get worse the closer it gets.
"I have an idea of about what goes on and how they work because of my experience of last time."
Southern League Premier Division side Yate Town are also interested, with player-manager Richard Thompson inviting him down for a week before he goes to the Fitness First Stadium.
He said: "They have asked me to come along, train and see how I like it and I will get back to them soon."
So singled minded is Lye, who scored 15 goals last season, he has started training on his own.
The 20-year-old helped Corsham to the Toolstation League Premier Division title last season but will leave after manager Colin Bush resigned and a number of key players, including captain Colin Towler, retired.
"It was more about enjoying it when I was growing up and playing youth football at Corsham," he said.
"I've played there since I was eight-years-old and the club has made me the player I am, especially being under Nobby (Bush).
"It is always sad to leave but hopefully this is the start of a new era."
Lye's new boss at the Southbank, Graham Learmonth, hopes he will finally be able to play professionally with the Cherries.
"It is not before time, he should have been looking to get at that level a year or two ago and he should be aiming to play as high as he can," he said.
