MALMESBURY Victoria were unable to launch a run in the Les Phillips Cup as they lost 4-2 on penalties away to Radstock Town.

Sam Parker had put Kevin Bridgeman’s side two goals in front in the first half of their preliminary round tie.

The first of his strikes came in the 29th minute, when Parker found the back of the net from 25 yards after latching onto a Ryan Collins flick-on.

He then doubled his tally just before the break when the Radstock keeper flapped at a corner, allowing Parker to nod it home.

With the Vics leading comfortably, the hosts then halved the deficit in the second half, before levelling the scoring three minutes later.

With neither side able to find a winner in the remainder of the second period or extra time, the game was decided on spot-kicks.

Bridgeman’s day went from bad to worse as watched his side exit the competition.

Ed Wilkins was the first to take, but he hit his over the bar. Josh Hughes and Tim Bond both dispatched their penalties before Jamie Packer’s was saved.
